hi!!! my name is Liam, and iβm a disabled trans guy trying to make his way through college! i donβt have a job and money is really tight right now, considering i have so many unmet medical needs that severely impact my life. i am unable to afford any type of treatment right now, and iβm bound in a wheelchair due to chronic back pain π¦
my friend maya was gracious enough to set me up a gofundme page to raise funds for needed treatment, so please donate if youβre able! anything is greatly appreciated, but youβre never obligated to give funds! if you canβt help, reblogging and spreading the word helps a lot as well!
God how I wish more people would TALK to children about mental illness and neurodivergence.
A customer mentioned having a serious talk with her 10-year-old granddaughter today because the kid had been upset about a classmate. Apparently heβs very disruptive and sometimes mean to the other children and all their teacher would say wasΒ βhe has ADHDβ. Nothing about what it MEANS. The customer, though, has ADHD herself, so she was able to explain some things about impulse control and executive dysfunction and all that fun stuff.
So the kid went fromΒ βwhy does he get away with things all the time because of some stupid letter combo thing?!β to saying sheβd have to tell her other classmates the things her granny told her,Β βso theyβll understand that he canβt help it and wonβt be so mad at himβ.Β
Kids are a lot more compassionate than adults tend to give them credit for! Not to mention thereβs an inherent value TO the kid in being told about this sort of thing, because theyβll be better able to recognize it in themselves and less ashamed if they have to seek help.Β
