You’re the child of two of the most powerful evil villains in the world. You turn 18 and have to tell them you are the hero’s sidekick and that’s why you’re almost never home.
“Mom? Dad? I ha- I have something to tell you.”, you stammered, nervous about the outcome. “What is it kiddo?”, your father asks, as he walks into the room, your mother following close behind. Taking a deep breath you confess. “Mom, dad. I- I’m working as a hero’s sidekick. That’s why I’m almost never home.”, you wait with bated breath, afraid of how your parents will respond.
The room had gone silent, only the sound of the grandfather clock could be heard. “Well,” your father began, though his tone darkened. “As long as you’re safe at the end of the day it’s fine, but if you come home hurt, they’ll have to explain to us.”, you’re in shock, your parents are okay with this? “Your father’s right dear. As long as you’re alright and you feel it’s what you want to do, then we’re both happy.”, your mother adds on. You run up to them, engulfing them both in a hug. “Thank you!”, you say, your voice muffled by the fabric. Your parents return the hug. “Now sweetie, what would you like for dinner?”, your mother inquires, releasing you from the hug and heading to the kitchen. “Is there any leftover pasta?”, you ask, following behind. “There sure is!”, your mother chirps happily.
The long dreaded moment had passed, without so much as a bump in the road ahead, you grinned. You were going to be fine.
