there literally wont be fanbases. fanfiction, fanart, edits, compilation videos and fan accounts in general will be illegal, as well as memes, let’s plays, simblrs, parodies and more. If the article get’s approved in its final vote in January 2019, it may only affect Europe, but we won’t be alone for long, because other countries/parts of the world will most likely follow along.
As someone who lives in the EU and finds so much comfort and also entertainment in the internet, please speak up and do not ignore this.
When net neutrality was a pressing issue, people from all over the world were talking about it, our dashes were most likely all filled with reblogs and posts about net neutrality and it’s only fair that this gets the same amount of attention because this is just as serious, scary and threatening as net neutrality was. This is not a joke and neither is it something that people that don’t live in the EU can just ignore, because it will affect all of us soon and it well be a catastrophy.
The internet is an amazing place full of likeminded people and I’m so scared to lose all this. The internet is a home for so many, where they can find themselves, express themselves, talk to friends, get to know other people, other cultures, new music and so much more. We can’t just let this die.
