Mark Zuckerberg lost $119 Billion dollars on the stock market today (7/26/18). This is the largest loss of wealth in a single day in modern stock history.
This will literally not change his lifestyle or effect his livelihood at all. He is still a multi-billionaire.
If I worked every single day, for the rest of my life, at $15/hr – which is more than twice the national minimum wage – I would never make even 1/1000th the amount of just the money that Zuckerberg lost today.
If I worked every single day, for the entirety of the time that anatomically modern humans have existed (200,000 years) – at $15/hr – I would still not make one tenth of the amount of just the money he lost today.
And he is still a billionaire and will lose literally zero luxury or well-being from what happened today.
You want to know how absolutely grotesque modern wealth inequality is?
There you go.
Did you hear about Betsy DeVos’ $40 million yacht? Someone intentionally loosed it from its mooring so that it drifted away. It took approx. $10,000 damage when it hit the dock on being brought back.
She owns a boat worth $40,000,000.
A BOAT. WORTH $40,000,000.00.
I doubt she spends more than a month or two a year on it. $40,000,000 so this rich bitch and her friends can sit around drinking imported wine or whatever, meanwhile the schools she is ultimately responsible for are literally falling apart, and by the way, Flint, MI still needs a new water system. And Puerto Rico needs its electrical system restored. Just to mention two things.
She could sell that yacht, fix one of those things, and be an instant hero. But it’s more important to have a status symbol to prove she’s somehow better than everyone else.
Oh boy, and it gets better.
She actually has 9 different yachts too.
Her 40,000,000 dollar yacht is just one of her many multi-million dollar boats.
But love to uhhh… get all my money from my pyramid scheme husband? And then become secretary of education?
